After seeing a multitude of psychiatrists for years and being prescribed numerous medications, Marc Epstein was recommended to me. I have been seeing him for over ten years and have continuously been surprised by his warmth and compassion. I am pleased to write this heartfelt testimonial on behalf of Dr. Marc H. Epstein, the best psychiatrist I ever had since my diagnosis of major depressive disorder in 1997. To put this heartfelt testimonial in a more complete context; please know that before meeting Dr. Epstein I had made two serious suicide attempts and received treatment from four different psychiatrists between 1997 and 2013. These doctors ranged from the indifferent, irresponsible, deranged and the one right before I luckily met Dr. Epstein was mean - not just coldly efficient/thorough as I had previously thought for more than seven years. Dr. Epstein is far more empathetic and professionally responsible than any of the other psychiatrists I ever dealt with. I had experienced some who would blindly write me refills for whatever medication I wanted to a psychiatrist (fortunately, he has retired) who felt that yelling at emotionally fragile patients like myself was wise psychological methodology. Dr. Epstein saved my life in 2013 by helping me deal with the near suicidal psychosis that I developed over possibly losing my apartment due to untrue noise complaints. Furthermore, he was instrumental in assisting me with the overwhelming grief I experienced when my beloved elder brother unexpectedly died in October 2017. I will always be grateful to him for the care and compassion he showed me - insisting on personally seeing me to make sure I was alright only a few days after my brother's passing. Dr. Epstein is an extremely ethical, empathetic and wonderfully skilled psychiatrist. With my prior psychiatrist, I felt that I was only a 15 minute assembly line - stamp the medication and make next month's appointment. Dr. Epstein is totally different - he cares about his patients. I had a lot of trouble finding a Psychiatrist with whom I felt comfortable with, especially in NYC. I was recommended Dr. Epstein by a close friend who had nothing but wonderful things to say. He is kind, professional and truly cares for the well-being of his patients. His office is very easily accessible and he is very accommodating as far as scheduling. I hope to continue seeing Dr. Epstein for as long as we both feel is necessary and I highly recommend him!
